Recaps of Today: Late Heroics Help Swiss, Messi Shines for Argentina, Benzema Helps France Win

Today there was France vs. Honduras, Switzerland vs. Ecuador, and Argentina vs. Bosnia-Herzegovina. First was Switzerland vs. Ecuador. Ecuador scored in the 22nd minute when Enner Valencia headed it in from close range for the 1-0 lead. The Swiss started out the game mediocre, but came alive in the second half with a 48th minute goal from Admir Mehmedi. He scored on a header from teammate Ricardo Rodriguez`s corner to tie it. In the final minute of the game, the 93rd minute, Ecuador looked like they were going to win. But the Swiss blocked it and returned it for a goal in the final 30 seconds. Rodriguez passed a shot to Haris Seferovic, a substitute, who fired the shot in for the 2-1 win.
Next match was France vs. Honduras. The second red card of the tournament was given to Wilson Palacios, who fouled Paul Pogba in the 28th and 43rd minute, resulting in two yellows. It left Honduras with 10 men at the start of the 2nd half. The foul in the 43rd minute was in the box, and Karim Benzema converted on the penalty two minutes later.  France scored in the 48th when Benzema headed in a shot that hit both posts, off Honduras goalkeeper Noel Valladares to just pass the goal line for an own goal. Benzema scored his second goal in the 73rd to the top of the net from a difficult angle for the 3-0 win.
The last match today was Argentina vs. Bosnia-Herzegovina. the scoring started in the 3rd minute with an own goal by Bosnian player Sead Kolasinac. It came from a free kick and it looked like he didn`t where the ball was before it hit off his leg. Bosnia had many scoring chances including a header from a corner that was saved by Argentina goalkeeper Sergio Romero. Lionel Messi doubled the lead in the 65th minute when his shot hit the left post into the net for his first 2014 World Cup goal. Bosnia cut the lead in half in the 85th minute when Vedad Ibisevic beat Romero one on one when the shot went through Romero`s legs. Argentina held on for the win and are on top of Group F with three points.
