Recap of Today: Belgium Comeback Beats Algeria, Brazil and South Korea Draw with Mexico, Russia

Today there were three matches filled with disappointments, comebacks, happiness, and hopelessness. First was Belgium vs. Algeria. Sofiane Feghhouli gave Algeria a lead in the 25th minute by scoring on a penalty shot. They were given the penalty when Feghouli got pulled by Belgium defender Jan Vertonghen. Axel Witsel tried to equalize in the 34th minute with a rasping shot, but Alegerian goalkeeper Rais M'Bolhi saved it. Algeria nearly scored when Carl Medjani  headed one just off target from a corner. In the 70th, Marouane Fellaini tied it when he headed it from a Kevin de Bruyne`s cross with his back to the goal. it then hit the crossbar and in for a 1-1 tie. Ten minutes later, Eden Hazard passed it to Dries Mertens who was on the edge of the box blast it high to the near post for Belgium to win.
The next match was a clash between Mexico and Brazil. in the 24th minute, Hector Herrera shot it high, but Brazilian goalkeeper Julio Cesar tipped it over the bar. In the 26th minute, Dani Alves crossed it to Neymar from the right, who headed it on target. But goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa of Mexico pushed it away to keep it level. In the 35th minute, Fred hit the ball with his head that resulted in a corner by Neymar. In the 39th, Marcelo shot off target, and in the 41st, Jose Juan Vazquez of Mexico shot it just wide. Ochoa saved it again for Mexico by stopping Paulinho`s shot from close range. Vazquez shot from long range just over the bar in the 55th. Neymar had two chances in the 63rd and 69th when Neymar`s free kick went wide of the top corner and Ochoa denied another shot at the near post. In the 86th, Silva headed one to Ochoa, who made an incredible save for the scoreless draw.
The last match today was a 1-1 draw between Russia vs. South Korea. Both goals were helped thanks by errors of the opposing teams, so without those errors, it still would have been a draw. In the 10th minute, Son Heung-Min of South Korea shot it over the bar, and in the 31st, Russia`s Sergey Ignashevich`s free kick from long distance was stopped. in the 34th, Koo Ja-Cheol`s deflected shot went inches wide of Russia`s net, and in the 46th, Vasily Berezutskiy`s header hit the side netting. Russian goalkeeper Igor Akinfeev had trouble in the 51st happened when he spilled Ki Sung-Yueng`s long distance shot before saving the rebound and in the 57th when he got the rebound after he dropped Kim Young-Gwon`s free kick shot. In the 68th, Lee Keun-Ho scored from long distance and Akinfeev had both hands of the ball, but he somehow let the ball in the net. In the 74th, Russia got level when Alex Kerzhakov scored on his rebound for a 1-1 tie.
